Out of the dark did you emerge,

and into to the dark will you slowly fade away again

And no matter how persistent I’ll try to recall your face,

You'll grow fainter,

and depart my soul.

For a short moment were you mine,

and at the same time never…

You were the spring wind,

the stars’ song,

the alcohol’s alluring face.

In a cloud of hazy senses,

and with drug-induced minds,

we shared a nearness.

You were unfamiliar horizons,

unconquered land,

meadows no one had ever visited.

But even so, you were still so familiar,

familiar as an old dream.

Familiar,

as something you once knew

but can’t remember.

In a sparkling night,

when cigarette smoke slowly slithered its way to the roof of the night,

and drugs made our blood simmer.

In a night wrapped in alcohol’s protecting cover,

we shared a smile,

a handshake,

a bed.

You were my flight,

my dream,

my angel.

But now, the night is over,

and we both have to confront the morning light.

Into the dark do you again seek refuge.

Like a dream you'll slowly fade away from my memories,

but always, with un-vanishing knowledge, will you once have been.

And for a short moment did you give me happiness…
